macOS Screen Recording & Video Permissions for TestSolver

To ensure TestSolver functions correctly on your macOS device, it's crucial to grant specific permissions for screen recording and video capture. This is a standard security feature of macOS designed to protect your privacy.

Initial Prompt: Your First-Time Experience

When you launch TestSolver for the very first time, macOS will display a system prompt asking for your permission to record the screen or access video input. This prompt is critical for the core functionality of our software, especially features related to screenshots, video capture, or screen sharing.

Missed the Prompt? No Worries!

If you accidentally clicked "Deny," closed the prompt, or didn't see it for any reason, you can still enable these permissions manually through your macOS System Settings.

How to Manually Enable Permissions:

  1. Open System Settings:

Click on the Apple menu (⌘) in the top-left corner of your screen and select "System Settings" (or "System Preferences" on older macOS versions).

  2. Navigate to Privacy & Security:

In the System Settings window, click on "Privacy & Security" in the sidebar.

  3. Find Screen Recording:

Scroll down and locate "Screen Recording" in the list of privacy categories. Click on it.

  4. Enable TestSolver:

You will see a list of applications that have requested screen recording access. Find "TestSolver" in this list and toggle the switch next to it to the "On" (blue) position. You may need to click the padlock icon in the bottom-left corner and enter your administrator password to make changes.

  5. Restart TestSolver:

After making these changes, it's highly recommended to quit and then restart TestSolver for the new permissions to take effect.

Why are these permissions necessary?

macOS prioritizes user privacy and security. By requiring explicit permission for applications to record your screen, it ensures that you are always in control of what applications can see and hear on your device. TestSolver utilizes these permissions exclusively for its intended functionality, such as capturing assessment screen content for analysis and providing accurate problem-solving assistance.
